Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about booking moving labor through Hire Moving Labor.
- What is Hire Moving Labor?
- Hire Moving Labor is a marketplace that connects customers with independent moving companies. We don't perform moves ourselves — every listing is a separate business you deal with directly once your booking is accepted.
- Do the companies bring a truck?
- No. This is a labor-only marketplace. Companies provide the crew, dollies, and straps for loading, unloading, or packing. You supply the truck, trailer, or moving container.
- How does pricing work?
- Each company sets its own hourly rate, crew size, and minimum number of hours. Optional specialty services, like piano or safe moving, may add a flat fee, an hourly add-on, or require a custom quote. You see the full estimate before you submit a request.
- When am I charged?
- The full estimated amount is authorized on your card when you submit a booking request, but you are only actually charged once the company accepts. If the company declines, the authorization is released and you pay nothing.
- What happens if a company declines or doesn't respond?
- Companies have 24 hours to respond to a request. If a company declines, or doesn't respond within that window, your card authorization is released automatically and you're free to request another company.
- How do I cancel a booking?
- Cancelling before a company accepts is free — your authorization is simply released. After a company has accepted, you'll need to submit a cancellation request. If it's approved, a 15% cancellation fee applies to cover the crew time the company held for you.
- When is the company paid?
- Payment to the company is released after the job is marked complete. Releasing payment promptly helps the company get paid for finished work.
- Can I leave a review?
- Yes. After a completed job, you can rate the company on communication, professionalism, and quality of work, plus leave a written review and photos to help future customers.
- What if something goes wrong during my move?
- You can report an issue or open a dispute from your dashboard. Our team reviews the details, including any messages and photos, and works with you and the company toward a resolution.
- What areas do you serve?
- Hire Moving Labor is expanding to new cities as independent moving companies join the marketplace. Search your ZIP code or city to see which companies currently serve your area.
