In Manhattan the hard part is rarely the furniture — it is the building. Freight elevators get released after the business day, a certificate of insurance has to be on file before anyone touches the service entrance, and the block outside is easier to work after rush hour than during it. This page lists independent companies whose coverage reaches New York and whose saved weekly hours run past 8 PM, so an evening load-out is a window you can request directly.
Hire Moving Labor is a marketplace for independent moving companies, not a moving company itself, and the help here is labor-only: you supply the rental truck, trailer, or portable container and the crew supplies the movers. There is no dispatch desk and no guaranteed response time. What is genuinely available for a New York evening depends on each company's own saved hours and on its acceptance of your request.

Approved, bookable companies whose coverage radius reaches New York and whose saved weekly hours extend into the after-hours band. Which evenings are covered differs by company, so pick your date and arrival window to see who is open for it.

Every booking pairs a service date with a two-hour arrival window. Windows starting at 8 PM or later count as after-hours; actual available start times depend on the provider's saved hours for that date. A 6–8 PM start is treated as a normal evening job.
A flat $100 Late Night / After Hours Fee applies to any booking whose arrival window starts at or after 8 PM or before 6 AM, on top of the company's hourly rate. It is itemized in the price breakdown before you authorize payment; applicable platform fees and commission are handled automatically under the booking terms.
This is after-hours moving labor, not a 24-hour service. Each independent company sets its own weekly hours, and the ones covering this area reach into the late evening rather than every hour of every day. The arrival window you choose is matched against those saved hours, so the results for your date are the real answer about what is open.
Some managed Manhattan co-ops, condos, and rentals publish moving hours and require a reserved freight elevator plus a certificate of insurance naming the building. Those hours, not the crew's willingness, can be the real limit on how late a move can run, so read the house rules before you choose a window.
Ask the building two specific questions: the last start time it allows for moving activity, and whether the service entrance stays staffed for it. An 8 PM arrival works in a building that closes the freight elevator at 11 PM and does not work in one that closes it at 9 PM.
Walk-up addresses have no elevator to reserve, which makes evening scheduling simpler, but the flights matter. Say how many there are in your request so the company can size the crew before it accepts.
Where the truck can legally stop shapes the whole job. A rig that parks a block away turns short carries into long ones, and evening can be when the nearest legal stretch of curb opens up.
Alternate-side rules, bus lanes, hydrants, and loading zones with posted hours all change what is usable after 8 PM. Check the signs on your side of the street for the actual night you booked, and note the plan in your request.
Elevator size is the other quiet constraint. Sectionals, box springs, and tall wardrobes that will not fit a small cab have to go by stair, so measure and flag them rather than discovering it at the door.
The listings here are labor-only: loading a truck or container, unloading one, or both ends of the same move. Whether a company handles extras such as furniture disassembly is shown on its own listing, and equipment such as dollies, straps, and blankets varies by company rather than being guaranteed by the marketplace.
Each listing shows that company's hourly rate for the crew size you choose and its minimum hours. There is no platform-set rate, and the platform does not change what a company charges per hour.
Submitting a request is not a confirmed job. The company you selected accepts or declines it, and only its acceptance locks in your date and window.
Where a building releases the freight elevator after the business day ends, that is when an after-hours crew can start.
A weekday move that cannot begin until you are home from the office fits an 8 PM window rather than a morning one.
A rental truck that reaches the address after dark still has to be emptied before you can return it.
Four flights with a sectional is a job for a sized crew, whatever the hour it starts.
