Moving labor is priced by independent companies, not by the marketplace, so the honest way to show rates by city is to show what those companies currently list. The table on this page is read live from the marketplace: each row is a currently bookable company, grouped by the city where its base is saved.
Current rates by base city
Read from the marketplace Oct 21, 2026, 5:18 AM UTC. Rates are set by each company and can change.
Each company sets an hourly rate for each crew size it offers — for example, one rate for two movers and a higher one for three. The minimum hours is the least time a booking is billed for. A company's base city is where it is located; its saved service radius decides which addresses it covers, which can include nearby cities and towns.
Methodology
Rows come from the same marketplace search customers use, so only companies that are approved, set up for payouts, accepting bookings, and not on vacation appear. Rates are the crew prices each company has saved and enabled. Nothing is averaged, estimated, or edited, and no company's rates are adjusted for this page.
Because companies can change their rates at any time, the table shows the time it was read. When rates are not available to load, the page shows links to search instead of stale numbers.
What the hourly rate does not include
Hours beyond the minimum — the job is billed for the time it actually needs.
Stairs or specialty charges the company lists, such as piano or heavy-item work, often quoted per job.
The separate Service Processing Fee, shown in your estimate before you authorize payment.
A late-night or after-hours fee, where your arrival window qualifies.
The truck, trailer, or container, which you arrange yourself.
Getting a price for your own address
The quickest way to an accurate number is to search by your job address and date: the marketplace shows only companies that cover that address, with their crew rates and minimums, and the estimate itemizes everything before you request a booking.
Hire Moving Labor is a marketplace for independent moving companies, not a moving company. Bookings are labor-only: you arrange the rental truck, trailer, or portable container, and the company you choose provides the crew.

Frequently asked questions
Why is there no average rate per city?
Averages hide the choice you actually make: one company, one crew size, one minimum. Showing each company's listed rates is more useful and cannot go stale the way a published average does.
Does a company only work in its base city?
No. Each company saves a service radius, so it may cover many nearby cities. Search by your address to see who covers it.
Are these the final prices?
They are the companies' current hourly crew rates. Your estimate adds billable hours, any listed charges, and the Service Processing Fee before you authorize payment.
Tipping is discretionary: how to decide, how to split it fairly, and alternatives to cash.
