A Moving Help® Alternative for Hourly Moving Labor

Moving Help®, powered by U-Haul, and Hire Moving Labor are both marketplaces for independent labor-only movers. Here’s how they compare on booking, payment and services — including where they’re alike — so you can choose what fits your move.

Independent companies set their own prices and provide labor only. Availability depends on your address, date and arrival window, and each request needs the company to accept it.

What Hire Moving Labor offers

  • 15% off your first booking, automatically

Save 15% on your full booking total, including labor, add-ons and the Service Processing Fee. No code needed. One discounted booking per account; it can’t be combined with other offers.

  • Late-night, overnight and 24-hour help

Choose an arrival window that starts in the evening or overnight where a company’s schedule offers it. Overnight and 24-hour options appear only where provider schedules support them. Arrival windows starting at or after 8 PM or before 6 AM (6 AM itself is excluded) add a flat $100 Late Night / After Hours Fee.

  • Same-day and last-minute requests

Request help for today when local companies have availability; each request still needs the company to accept it. A Same-Day Booking Fee of 25% of the service subtotal applies to same-day arrivals when the company charges it, and it’s shown before you pay.

  • Hourly crews for every part of the move

Loading, unloading, packing, unpacking and furniture moving, priced per crew size and hour. Crews start at 2 movers, and each company sets its own minimum hours.

  • Pianos, heavy items and furniture assembly

Piano moving, heavy-item handling and furniture assembly or disassembly are available where the company you select offers them, with that company’s add-on pricing.

  • Labor for trucks, containers and storage

Crews load and unload rental trucks, trailers, portable containers and storage units, or rearrange furniture at home. You arrange and drive any vehicle.

  • Compare crews, posted rates and reviews

See independent local companies, their posted hourly rates, reviews and an itemized estimate — labor, add-ons, applicable fees, the Service Processing Fee and any discount — before you book.

  • Pay only if the company accepts

Your card is authorized for the estimated total when you send the request. It’s captured only if the company accepts; if it declines or the request expires, the authorization is released. Accepted bookings appear in your dashboard.

Where Moving Help® and Hire Moving Labor are alike

  • Both list independent local companies that set their own rates — neither is itself the moving crew.
  • Both let you compare rates and customer reviews before booking.
  • Both offer labor only: you pack and drive the truck or container yourself.
  • Both cover loading and unloading of rental trucks, portable containers and storage units, and piano moving where a provider offers it.
  • Both mention same-day help, depending on local providers.

What’s different here

  • Your first eligible booking is 15% off automatically, including labor, add-ons and the Service Processing Fee.
  • You see an itemized estimate — including any same-day or late-night fee — before you send the request, and you can change crew size, hours and arrival window while comparing.
  • Payment is tied to company acceptance: if a company declines or doesn’t respond in time, your authorization is released and you can choose another.
  • Late-night and overnight arrival windows are bookable where a company’s schedule supports them, with the fee shown up front.

When Moving Help® may suit you better

  • You already reserved a U-Haul truck and want to add labor in the same U-Haul account or app.
  • You prefer prepaid funds to be held until you release a Payment Code after satisfactory completion.
  • A cancellation policy with no fees matters most to you.
